This book is a textbook for the course “Theory of musical content”. It is a generalization of all the scientific and pedagogical activities of A. Yu. Kudryashov (1964–2005). The center of the author’s attention is both the category of the “musical content” itself and the main ideas forming the historical evolution of the European professional musical art of the Modern Age (XVII–XX centuries) — from Baroque to modern times.
“Theory of musical content” is quite large, contains a vast number of examples, and is distinguished by fundamental importance of the material, the most valuable information about music, and innovative interpretation of works.
The book is intended for students of musical universities and other musical educational institutions.
